Hi guys, one of my chickens decided to lay eggs coop free - outdoor. As they free ranging, i didn't see it a problem as I was collecting her egg every other day. Yesterday, during day time i hear her "screaming " of danger and running from the nest. By the time I approached her nest, I found all egs are cracked into chips and all of the chips remained inside the nest. I did not see any animls or foot prints around. Some of the cracked eggs seemed to be freshly cracked, because whats little left of the youlk Was still not dry. So, I assume it was something that ate eggs during the day. Ive read a lot of info, but still cant figure out what ate all the eggs inside the nest and left eggshells a smushed chips.
I live in north Georgia, so we do have raccoons, opossums, blue herons, ravens, but none seem to match the "signature" that was left behind.
What do you think?
