HELP!!! My hens really bad off!!!

I’m very sorry for your loss. Do you want to have your state vet do a necropsy to see what was wrong with her? If you keep the body wrapped in plastic bags in a cooler on ice or the fridge you can take her to the state vet in the morning. Do not freeze the body. Here is a list of state vets to contact:

Thank you but we already buried her. It was terrible I went in and she looked right at me then she went crazy like she couldn’t control her body then she had passed I’ll really miss her. She was always a glutton she could always find room for one more bite. She loved to climb on my lap, nibble my hair, jump on my back and escape. She was trained to come and loved to follow you around. She had a happy life I am positive. she just really liked living. Here are some pictures of her over her life she was going to be two March 3rd.

So sorry you lost her. With chickens, there are so many issues that can come up and very little we can do about it. We can take an educated guess at what might be wrong and try and help - some are easy, like coccidiosis, bumblefoot, mites and worms, (egg binding isn’t nearly as common as people on this board seem to think), but most are either a mystery or we don’t have a cure. Then it’s a delicate balance of being supportive without unnecessarily torturing the chicken as it is dying. It can be tricky. I have been more pushy with bad results and also less pushy with good results. Which taught me that it is really more out of my control than I would like to think.

So I believe my hen is egg bound all day yester day she was very off then she was just standing in the nest box I went in there to lock them up and she was still in there. I brought her in gave her a bath with epsom salts and then blow dried her and put her on the roost this morning she’s the same! I know I should give her calcium but which way is the best way? She’s looking really really bad!!!
How is your hen doing?
