Hi everyone. I am raising 2 Polish chickens and and 1 pekin bantam. The white polish is the biggest and purposefully stands tall over the other chicks. She also is always on the look out. I suspect it is a boy. Please let me know what you think. He is 5 weeks old today.

Yes.. the little pekin bantam has stolen my heart. He runs around eagerly when he sees me and jumps on my arm. He loves being stroked on his face, chest, head & wings. I’ve heard that Roos can turn from affectionate to deadly. It would break my heart if he turned on me. Are you super confident it’s a boy?

The Polish look like pullets, and the Cochin is for sure a cockerel.

The cockerels are almost always the sweetest at a young age, whereas the pullets want nothing to do with you. Unfortunately, as you stated, hormones can easily take over their true personality once they reach a certain age, usually a few months (when they're still cockerels and they're trying to learn how to mount the pullets). Always watch them for the first signs of aggression. Puffing up their feathers at you and raising their hackles should be taken as aggression. If a male wing-dances at you, that is also aggression. There is only one exception to the wing-dance, and that is if your male actually loves you. If he continues to be super affectionate towards you and likes to be held, cuddled, etc. then he can wing-dance at you as a sign of love. But if he doesn't like those things, wing-dancing is aggression.

Yes I'm certain
And it's true they can change once the start to mature but you can correct that by continuation of handling and spending time with him constantly
