I have a hen that was attacked by a predator some time last night. She is 1-2 years old and lives in a large chicken tractor and attached run with 13 other hens and 2 roosters. They have pine bedding. She does not seem lighter than the others. She is awake and alert but somewhat subdued after the attack. Some of the other hens are also subdued, and two others were killed but she is the only injured. She has dried blood around the wound in her head and dried blood on her beak. The wound on her head is like a 1 inch square flap of skin that peels back. The skin underneath is a light or pale pink. I didn’t mean to peel it back, I didn’t realize it was a skin flap when I was cleaning it off. I cleaned off the dried blood with a gauze pad wet with warm soapy water. That is all the treatment I have done so far as I didn’t want to do the wrong thing. I have witnessed her eat but not drink. I have not seen her poop. I intend to treat her myself. I have attached some pictures of the wound. They are not the best but I had some trouble holding her and the camera at the same time. Thank you for your help and advice.
