As the title suggests I'm having trouble deciding if this 15 week old is a hen or roo. They were a lone chick from a small hatch and so have nothing to compare with as all my other chicks are 3 weeks younger.

I’m thinking cockerel. Do you have anymore pictures of the tail area? I believe I can see bright orange pointed saddle feathers poking through. And those neck feathers are pretty male too.

I'm thinking cockerel too. Very pointy hackles and saddles, and the tail looks like it is starting to arch.

I also read somewhere that the white on the wings is also an indicator in red breeds, but I might have misremembered that.

Thank you all for your comments. I had my doubts. He's the biggest scardy cat I've ever come across. My little black rooster who is three weeks younger is more dominant and has started crowing. This one shows no cockerel behaviour whatsoever 🙈
