First time poster but have been lurking for a while.

I currently have two momma hens seperated one with 3 chicks the other with 2 chicks. DH built a hutch for me yesterday for babies and momma.

Would it be safe to put the hens and babies together in the hutch? Or should I keep them seperated? The chicks were hatched on Wednesday 7/2.

With the lurking I've been doing I have learned a lot from everyone here.

Thanks

Wanda

I think it would be ok to try putting them together, keep an eye and see what they do. A little pecking is ok, as long as it is not real aggressive and long lasting!

My mamas and chicks prefer to be together. The mamas help each other out. Sometimes they share their nests and sleeping spots as well. Even if the chicks are different ages. I think they feel safer together.
Blessings,
Amy J.
