Hello everyone.
My name is Brittiney. I'm new to owning chickens and have yet to buy any. Mostly because we're wating for warmer weather, but we're also really undecided on what type to get. My roomates, husband, and I recently began building the coop that will house between 10 to 14 hens. I have been reading a lot on this site and thought I should join in on the fun. I look forward to all the great advice.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

my rooster's name is wild billy , i am 5 1/2 months new to chickens myself, i normally only have goats and small pets. i bought 6 chickens and very cool ones. for egg laying i highly recomend you buy a day old white leghorn they lay an egg a day once they get in their long laying cycle. rhode island red hen, easter egger hen, barred rock hen, and buff orpington as well as a jersey black giant rooster are great birds and great fun.....i personally love all breeds of chickens .....you may choose ones based on personality or egg laying, i used the website meyer cheap chicks hatchery.com and them as well as many other chick places are reliable. i am excited for you , trust me chickens can be an adventure.
