Hi from upstate New York!

Ithaca, so not too far. There is apparently something at a Farm and Fleet near us in early September, so we can check that out if the fair options doesn't pan out. Driving up there twice may still be easier than dealing with shipping, etc.!
There is a swap in Newark Valley this Saturday from 10 to 2. Side parking lot of the Creekside Diner (8088 Rt38). The advertisement lists pigeons. It's free to go and no fee to setup. Maybe you could check that out. It's closer than Syracuse.

Oooh - we should definitely go check that out! Even if we could just get the names of some potential contacts for the future. Thank you SO much for the heads up!

Hello, and welcome to BYC. I think the 'release' of birds varies from fair to fair and situation to situation. Birds being shown can not be removed until the fair concludes. Some sale birds at local fairs are cash and carry immediately.
That makes sense- if we don't find a connection at the Newark Valley swap, we will just see what is available in Syracuse. Again, we will definitely go to that, if only for the deep-fried oreos!
