I have had chickens only about 2 years (I did have a hen as a child, but it had no coop, just free ranged in the back yard and ate our dog;s food. She was inherited from a neighbor and we never ate the eggs, so other than having a sweet animal that liked to sit in your lap - yes it was a lap chicken- it wasn't that much like having chickens. She was a smart chicken too, we had plenty of predators but she died of old age)

But I have learned so much about the chickens I have now from the people on the boards. I am making my first leap into incubating eggs and I have spent the last couple of months reading everything I could on the boards, and when I have a question I know people will help and I don't know how I would do this without knowing that BYC is here. So I just wanted to say thanks, this is a great community and I am grateful you are all here, getting your chicken obsession out and helping us newbies too
