I have 2'x4' cage, usually I put up to 40 corturnix until they grown up to 6 weeks old, then slaughter them. But due to inconsistent supply of day old chick I intend to breed and incubate the egg. I think 40 will be too crowded, how about 30, 5 roo and 25 hen? Is it ok?

How About 8?

As A General Rule, And Law In Many Areas The Minimum Space For Adult Coturnix Is 1 Sq Ft/ Per.

Many Will Tolerate Slight Overcrowding, But 30 Is Significantly Beyond Slight.

It is supposedly 1 sq. ft. per bird, but .75 sq. ft. per bird is more than enough room

I wouldn't put more than 12 or 14 in a 2'x4' cage. The cage I had like that had 2 males and 10 females.
