How to check if hen has not been a battery hen?

I brought them even wet, they had been in rain. Smell very bad..

If the seller gonna been lied to me........

Not as much, but they certainly could be. My hens look like that during molting or if they rub their tails against something a lot (such as a too small perch).

One more fact I didnt like, is they sit so calm in car, in cages. I dont think I could put 5 of mines, side by side and bring somewhere like cakes.

Now im 100% sure they was battery hens or overcrowded coop hens.
How to adapt them, some recommendations?

Feed them a similar feed to what they were eating and then you can wean them onto the type you have, just so it isn't too much of a shock. They may be reluctant to go outside at first, but they will get the hang of things eventually.

Best of luck!

Even if they were battery hens, they should adapt to their new surroundings quickly. It would be good to provide a low roost for a while... maybe 1 foot off the ground at most? If they were battery hens, their muscles are probably atrophied, plus the lack of exercise probably means they have weaker bones. You wouldn't want them to break a leg jumping down.
