How to deal with the loss?

I ordered 27 chicks and was only able to get to the post office this morning do to car trouble. So they had to sit there all day and all night. I got them under some heat before I went to work. There was one who passed away in the box. Then I came home to find I had lost two more. I just wish I had been able to do more for them. I feel bad that I couldn't save those little babies. Even though I am going to eat them when they grow up.

I know how you feel. I think it's the fact that they're so small and helpless, and they are totally dependent on us. But you actually had a pretty good survival rate, especially for shipping at this time of year.

It hurts to lose these little ones, but the survivors are going to be helping you to get over your sense of loss.
