How to remove leg bands from chicks?

I purchased some new babies, but two of them came with plastic leg bands on them. Chicks grow rapidly, so these are going to need to come off. They appear to be solid bands, not the spiral kind. Please help advise :)

I was thinking of nail clippers because I didn't want to hurt the chicks legs.

I'm sure others will be in the same boat, so I will update and post pictures as soon as possible that others might stumble over this thread in the future.
 
It all depends on how tight they are against the leg. I’ve banded wild birds for years (for work) and sometimes you can’t get pliers or nail clippers between the band and the leg. If this is the case, and if you have one, CAREFULLY use a dremel or other electric rotating implement to cut away the plastic band from the outside. I had to do this on a tree sapling this year. We had put zip ties around them and the tree grew to where I couldn’t get wire cutters in there. The dremel worked like a charm.
