How to use chicken wire

Most of my pens are made with welded wire. For many years I used chicken wire but after a few years it rusts out and has to be replaced so now I have welded wire. I also use metal posts and fence wire. I use these fence pliers.

Yup those evil things:barnie
Use a conventional staple gun, then go back over with the fencing staples. It frees up your hands and makes the job way easier.

If you watch a professional install a wooden privacy fence, often times they use a glue of one kind or another, to keep things from moving before while they nail.

Step one: buy chicken wire...easy enough.
Step two: unroll the chicken wire.
Step three: scream bloody murder as it springs back and cuts your hand.
Step four: find something heavy to hold the unrolled wire down
Step five: try to staple it in place with poultry wire staples
Step six: bash your hand with the hammer.
Step seven: suck your thumb in pain only to let go of the wire and have it spring back at you again
Step eight: reconsider getting chickens
Step nine: wonder if you have tetanus

The stuff is just plain evil!

Start off with a T-150 staple gun then secure it afterwards with fence staples.
Anything "rolled up" acquires "memory" because the rolling effect stretches the material with each revolution.
When stretching "chicken wire, think of it like a bed sheet. Stretch from corner to corner.
Notice the horizontal straight across the honey comb pattern? That is where to apply the strongest tension.
If you don't have rough "blue collar hands", gloves will be needed.
Remember, chicken wire is used for keeping chickens in, not predators out.
