Not sure what do you mean by ridge? Are you referring to the neck feathers the males have?

No, the overlapping vertical line the feathers make on a hens right side of her neck. Mindy has a good picture of it that she posted some time back, if not I will take a photo of it and post it later. Mindy knows her stuff....
