Important Question!!!

Is it still ok to stop turning egg (as planned) on lockdown day 23 if the egg isn't going to hatch till day twenty eight? xx

yes stop turning on d23

depending on AC size you will also want to sponge them 1x per day starting on day 20 (unless you need more moisture loss then day 18)

keep us posted!

no i haven't hatched a duck before but I have 2 khaki campbell females,7 hybrid hens, one budgie, one button quail I hatched (tamest bird on earth!) and I have hatched grey partridges before in the same bator!

Ok, thanks, plus what is sponging?
spongeing
you take a brand new sponge and wet the egg, like a mom duck went swimming and got back on the nest
it will spike the humidity but it will go right back down

it helps to keep from getting sticky/gunky 'lings
and helps to grow the AC

ALSO
for ducks pip to zip takes FOREVER, like 30-40 hours
so lock down d23, pip d24.5 hatch d26
approx
