Incubator temp struggles

I can’t seem to keep my incubator at 99.5. I can either keep it at 98 perfectly or 105. The SLIGHTEST touch to the temp knob makes it fluctuate horribly. I’ve been fighting it for 3 days. Is 98° going to be sufficient? I’m using the old fashioned thermometer that came with it. My battery one shows a totally different (lower) temp. Hatching peacock eggs.

Go buy a new thermometer and calibrate it. Have you calibrated the one you have? They will hatch at 98. Will take an extra day or two. Placing the incubator on an insulated surface like a towel can help raise the temperature too.
