Hi my poultry house is looking a bit scruffy.
My husband thinks we should repaint the outside with wood preservative.
I am a bit worried that the fumes will affect my hens. They would be inside the house while it was being done.
What do other people think.
They are Rare breed Orpington Bantams and pekins near by.

I would be a bit worried too. Can you get a water proof sealant that is not very toxic and doesn't have many fumes?

Also I would probably wait until the weather is warm, paint it in the morning and do it in sections (so the whole coop is not done at once, and each wall has time to dry all day before putting the chickens up for the night).

I have to waterproof the outside of my new little coop too (the chickens just moved into it) and that is how I plan to do it.
