I have eight chicks - two Ameraucanas (which I'm assuming are EEs), two RIR, and four Australorps.

Both RIRs and two of the lorps have small combs coming in. I have no experience at determining gender. Help!

It's definitely too early to tell, but I can give you my best guesses.
EE - pullets
RIR - pullet and cockerel
Australorp - pullet and cockerel
Thats the best I can do, and I'm probably wrong. I'm just basing that off of comb size. You can always try again in a couple of weeks. :)

I thought I'd post updated photos now that the chicks are nine weeks. I have suspicions about a couple of them but I really have no clue about determining if I have cockerels.

On another note, what's the difference between the terms cockerel and rooster?

This first chicken is Marcel:

Forgive me for all the photos of my Australorps. They're so gosh darn hard to tell apart. Two have larger, pinkish combs, one has a smaller comb, and one has yellow feet, so I'm thinking it's actually a Jersey Giant. Eek!
