Is it too early to molt?

My 16 month old hens seem to be molting. Ceased egg laying and feathers everywhere. The weather has been weird here in Oklahoma, but I thought it was too early to molt? We went from cool and rainy, to the last 3 weeks being 95-100. I thought they would molt when it cools off in the fall.

It is a bit early but molt can happen at any time of year and at any age. It mostly happens with declining days and since we are after the summer solstice it could very well be molt and the right age.
