Is this a rooster or a hen that crows?

Hello,

One of my "girls" crowed on Saturday. I got really sad and started looking for a home for him thinking he must be a rooster (I live in city limits and roosters are not allowed). I posted an ad with his picture in my neighborhood site hoping someone outside city limits would want him. I had many responses telling me they had "alpha" hens that crowed. Please take a look at the pic and let me know if you think this is a male or a female.

For me, I would say that your chicken is a hen. I know my hens make loud noises but none if them make a cock adoodle doo sound. I hope this helps. And by the way you have a beautiful chicken!

I've read that in groups of hens the alpha one will crow. I'm pretty sure I've heard one of mine do the same thing.
