Is this normal?

I have a very large cochin rooster and 2 hens. Both of the hens backs look like this. Is this from the rooster?

Yes, you might want to get more hens so hard can spread out or hen saddles.
The typical rule of thumb is 8+ hens per rooster, but sometime smaller numbers work if you can prevent over mating.

We have a total of 8 hens but he seems to prefer the cochins. Will check in to saddles. Thanks!

I had 15 hens, but my rooster just loved my wyandottes and australorps. Wouldn't touch anyone else.

I agree looks like from your roo mounting her too much. They sell inexpensive chicken saddles on Amazon or cute ones in Etsy.
