Is this normal?

Hello, I have 3 Rhode Island Red chicks, and they look dead when they sleep. Is it normal for chicks to sleep like this? The first time they did it I thought they were dead, and then they popped up and stared at me for waking them up. Does anyone else’s chicks sleep like this?

Yes, it’s normal. When chicks are under a hen, that’s how they have to sleep, and so when there is no hen, they still do it.

They look great.. fully relaxed, hanging near the edge of the heat, not piling for warmth.. looks like they don't quite need the full intensity of the corner.
