I have a 6 month old silkie Roo who is still eating and drinking but, I noticed he has poop on his rear end feathers and yesterday morning he was fine all day but at night his legs were kind of sprawled and he didn’t want to move.. I gave him a bath to inspect him and I sat him in a epson salt bath. I put some vet RX and vasoline on his legs. This am I gave him another epson salt bath I needed to rinse his bottom since he had poop stuck to him and I posted a pic of his poop.
But, he was eating and drinking this am and his crop is full. I also added some rooster booster and oregano oil to thier water. Is this scaly mites? Or is their something else going on do you guys think?
I also have a California grey who 4 months old is still eating and drinking and normal poops but her leg is hurt. I gave her an epson salt bath and I also brought both inside. I noticed leg hurt on Friday. Should I check for something other then a hurt leg she is walking with her leg flat and other one normal. My son says he thinks my our gander trampled her but he also said maybe while our gander was chasing him out of coop. I don’t know all I know is she is hurt.

For the rooster unable to walk, the scaly leg mites which he may have shouldn't be doing that. My silkies had them much, much worse, as in white feet/legs and it didn't affect them. I used vaseline the first time, years ago. To keep going with that, do it every 2nd or 3rd night 3 to 4 nights. It takes awhile for them to go away but he should start looking better there. Now we have 17 silkies and a couple got them again so this time we're using Ivermectin, the 5% pour on for cattle. One drop on the skin of their back.

As for the poop sticking to his butt, does it smell bad? I wonder if he could have a yeast infection. If so, probiotics will help that. Sugarfree Greek yogurt is great. There's powdered poultry probiotics for water too. We ferment grains/feed which is high as well.

What Rooster Booster are you giving him? Between him and your injured hen, I think vitamins will help them both...for him, perhaps he's having a vitamin deficiency and her the same? Poultry Cell (rooster booster) is good. If she's injured, they will help her. You could maybe put her in a sling for a few days so she stays off of it. You can search chicken slings on here and find a bunch.

Looks like it to me. Gail Damerow in her excellent Chicken Health Handbook recommends something that really knocks those mites for a loop: .25 cc of Ivermectin squrited down their throats. Repeat in 10-14 days. Get a small syringe, 3 cc, or the small amount needed will be lost in a big syringe.

Vaseline works/helps for coating the scales and smothering some mites. I have found Dr. Naylor's Red-Kote, aka Scarlett Oil, is better. My TSC sells it and you can also find or order it other places.

Scaley mites won't heal over night, it will take a few weeks to kill all generations of mites and heal the Scales.
Vet rx is useless for mites, the Vaseline or any oil is good. Make sure to rub it in.
The oregano oil is not necessary for this.

This is what added in their water but I also gave him some nutridrench after his bath. My hubby had suggested a sling to he read it. Says will help it heal. I’ll look online for her.

I have treated my flock with elector psp because they had mites I have had to treat twice already. I wasnt sure what was going on I’ll give them fresh water with just some poultry cell. And use some vasoline. Should I drive give him epsom salt baths? Or just rub the vasoline on him?

I treated him with elector psp 2x already my flock had lice. The ivermectin will it help heal him faster or just help him along with the vasoline. I have him inside. I assume best place for him and her right now? Or should I move them with their flock in a crate so they can still see their flock and their flock see them.
I have had chicken going on 4 years and this is my year for my flock to teach me a lot this year. lol

I just used the Ivermectin pour-on, one drop on the back of my silkie chickens the last two times they had scaly leg mites, then repeat it in 10 days. I didn't want to grease all those feet that many times. You could do both though as the vaseline will help sooth the scales and smother the mites, but using both won't make them go away any faster to my knowledge. The nice thing though is that Ivermectin is also a dewormer. I've never used it for that reason as mine haven't had worms that I know of, but if they did, it got rid of them.

From Poultry DVM: "Ivermectin is effective against the following parasites: Most species of adult roundworms, including Ascaridia galli (large roundworm), Heterakis gallinarum (cecal worm), Syngamus trachea (gapeworm), and Oxyspirura mansoni (manson eyeworm)."
