I had my Barred Rock hen taken a week ago, I am assuming by a fox I chased it off just too late, dog must not have heard it.

Anyway.

A friend said they knew someone looking to get rid of a pullet about 20 weeks old. I picked it up last night in the dark in a box. Looking at it today it appears to be a cockerel - though I am no expert. Its not round like my previous barred hen, totally different stance, neck feathers and larger wattle/comb, it is also aggressively chasing off any birds that come near it. Doesn't look as well bred as my last one (maybe not 100% pure breed?) which wouldn't worry me if it was a girl! I am not allowed a rooster in my area.

Currently it is separated from the girls, though it flapped over a little fence and one of my girls attacked it before I got them apart.
