June duck egg hatch along

Hi all!

My first time hatching duck eggs begins next week! Hoping there are some others who will be hatching as well to join along for some fun and support!

Set my 6 duck eggs today! Now I want to build a pond for them lol. I need to chill out soon and stop adding more projects for a bit!

Candled today as I forgot to when I got the eggs and one has a major crack and will have to be tossed another has a free floating yolk so I’m guessing no good and other smaller egg looks clear but I’ll keep my hopes up on that one since it’s only day 2. Probably should have picked up more than 6 eggs but didn’t look into incubating and hatching until I got them (silly) and realized they are apparently much harder to hatch than chickens.

@Canadian Wind have you had any hatch yet?

I am pretty sure my two pekin eggs had an early death looking pretty dark no movement and no veins. If tomorrow is same they will go. 3 white duck eggs (Swiss,Orpington,appleyard?) look good
Hatch date possibly the 30th? At least hoping for two to hatch or I will have to plead with the local community for at least one more!

I have indeed been having some hatches, one of my broodies has a bunch of fosterlings, and I lost another broody so I brought her eggs in and have them hatching now. Three so far, and one pipped but not zipped.

Also have two internal pips from my incubator eggs. I don't know if I'll get more than those, though.

Still three Muscovy and two 'regular' ducks on nests. One due next week!

I haven’t been on here in quite awhile! Life has been just nuts!

2 eggs have made it to lockdown from the 6 I started with

To console myself I got these two lovely ladies yesterday and already got an egg

I just so happen to have duck eggs due in June, so I'll tag along with you!

I don't have ducks or want adults but I would love to hatch some to have ducklings for a couple days. Lol. A guy I hatched for did ask me about trying to hatch some of his duck eggs so I may but his female went broody and the eggs ended up exploding so his drake may not be getting the job done

That being said I will follow along to see cute ducklings.

Exploding eggs are the worst...

I once forgot to throw out an egg that quit, and it sat on my counter. One night I woke up to a horrible smell. Wasn't the litter box. Dog hadn't farted. Not a skunk outside. Then I noticed the goo all over the sink area. Man that was disgusting!!!

I've got some Muscovy sitting on 'regular' duck eggs that are due next week, plus some in the incubator due on the 15th. And then more Muscovy sitting on Muscovy eggs. Hopefully I'll get pics for you, JR!

You should give ducks a try though. Especially Muscovy.

I had a couple explode in my incubator that he gave me the first time. They were dirtier than mine normally are and I forgot to candle before I set them. 2 days in 2 exploded and the incubator was in my bedroom. Omg it was horrible
