Sorry that my first post is a question, but I am in need of some help. I purchased 6 week old lady smear
Amherst chicks.. They are about 2 months old now and 1 looks different than the rest. It is showing bars on its tail and the others are solid. I am not sure if it is just older, different gender, or and different breed slipped in. Any help is appreciated.

From what I can tell by the photo's, they are Goldens not Lady Amherst. They all appear to have yellow/olive colored legs, not blue/grey. The skin around their eyes/face isn't blue!
If
they were Amherst, these traits would be obvious, even in poor photos.

@007Sean ???
I personally would think the different feathers (ie left bird in 3rd picture) would say male but I have no experience with ornamental breeds
At that age you can't go by feather color or pattern. A close up of the faces, side profile would be best to determine if it's a male or female. The wattle is very apparent by that age.

That would be no good. I just my reds to get lady amherst. Here are some up close pics. Thoughts?

Thanks to your advice I went ahead and sold the chicks (I wasn't going for goldens, I had just sold my pair). I was open in the ad as to what I had purchased and what they ended being and had the buyer check for himself to make sure. To avoid having this problem in the future I ended up purchasing a 2 year old pair of Swinhoe. No mistaking them! Thanks again for all the advice and saving me the months of growing them out until I recognized them as goldens.
