So today I noticed my hen not moving around as much as usual. She also had her back tails hanging down. I searched this and thought she may have a egg stuck even though she hasn’t started to lay yet. So I put her in a warm bath but then noticed she has a black type mass on her chest/ abdomen and fist I thought it was poo stuck on her but it looks attached to her. I’m very worried about her she’s our first chicken and we are very attached to her

Your either dealing with some type of tumor which is seen in older chickens or on a better note, a feather follicle blockage. Its molting time so pull any feathers in it and treat with antibiotic cream. I hope this works for you.

And think about Meriks. I have seen chickens with same on that too. A vet would be nice on this one. Hope you have one that will work with poultry. Mine won’t even euthanize and we live way out.

Can anybody tell me what this thing is? She was an older barred rock hen.

That could be, it was so weird, it’s so big and layered inside. It felt like a hard boiled egg yolk and she also had weird stones that I’m guessing were calcified pus or something
