First time with Cochins. I was hoping for pullets. Out of a batch of 7 chicks, 2 Wyandottes are definitely cockerels. This morning, I caught one of my lavender cochins crowing too. Trouble is I have two, and they look very similar, so I'd like those more knowledgeable to weigh in and confirm if they're both cockerels or not. I have the opportunity to return the roosters, and the other two, now three are scheduled to be brought back on Monday. Thanks for looking!
There are two lavender cochins - photos here:
Here's both - the one who crowed this morning on the left, it's sibling on the right.
Chicken #1 - the crower - head / face view
Chicken #1 - The crower - full body view
Chicken #2 - Ambiguous sibling - head / face view
Chicken #2 Ambiguous sibling - full body view
We'll be pretty bummed if 4 out of 7 chicks turn out to be roos - but the place is an hour away so I'd prefer to only make 1 trip to bring the boys back.
Thanks for your input! Trish
