I got this sweet baby from a local breeder as a lavender Orpington. I was skeptical from the onset because I’ve seen enough lavenders to wonder about all the yellowy white fluff.

Anyway, the barring is consistent enough I’m thinking lavender cuckoo??

Also, gender is confusing me so. It’s very timid, acts motherly to the bantam babies allowing them to sleep under it, and the comb is quite pale. However size wise I feel like it’s more male and the comb and wattles were pretty evident really early…they just haven’t grown since about 4 weeks.

Thoughts? :)

She is very pretty! Can you post a pic of her now if you could, please?
Thank you!! I’m always happy to share pictures 😍 I also got confirmation from the breeder that she is in fact a lavender cuckoo Orpington. She is 9 weeks today! 😍

He's actually a cockerel 😳 His comb growth is on par for an English Orpington cockerel at that age!
I'm inclined to agree 🤭. I currently have barred blue English Orpingtons, also just over 9 weeks old. Yours looks like my boys. The girls develop a little slower and are smaller in size at that age. If you really need to know, might be an idea to ask your breeder what the parents background is, because barring is sex linked...though my knowledge of the genetics of barring isnt great!
