Hi! I'm new to the community, although I've been a chicken owner for 6 years. Happy to be here 😊

I know it's waaaay to early to know for sure, but has anyone had a lavender Orpington around 3 weeks old that looked like this and it ended up being female? The comb is making me worried, and the tiniest bit of waddle is starting to poke through. This one is also the noisiest and the bossiest of the bunch.

We recently brought home 4 baby chicks and we already know one of our salmon faverolles is a rooster--I dread having to try to re-home two, let alone one 😭

Thank you!

Welcome! 😊 I see you're in the Bay Area... I grew up there, but transplanted to Colorado many years ago. 😆

This cutie does look roo-ish, but I would give it a little time... one of my Buff Orpies combed out super fast and I swore she was a cockerel. After about 4-5 months it turned out I had to change Spike's name to Anya! Now she's one of the boldest in my flock... just last night she and a couple other girls were in with the horses while I was feeding them, pecking around their feed pans.😂

Edit: Love your handle BTW... my RIR is named Mother Clucker!

Does you ever find out? I’m also trying to find out if all of mine are roos

UPDATE:

They are about 6.5 weeks old now and I'm pretty sure we have a roo 😩
