Lost my first chicken to snake

I never thought about relocation being a problem until I read the above, but can now see where it can be. I have stopped to relocate turtles , but just to the other side of a road. I am just beginning to raise chichens in La and know I will have to kill something to keep them so I bought a 410 shot gun . I have 3 killer cats that I think will have kill snakes, because I stopped seeing snakes when they grew up and I had plenty before. The cats leave me dead moles and other small animals on my welcome mat.

I have only killed dangerous snakes, (moc., copper heads , etc. )not king snakes .

I had one kill my 10 week old pullet last night.
