I think it’s more prominent on young birds because of their feathering. I had a chick like that and I posted in the emergency thread because I was afraid it was impacted. I had older birds, but that was my first chick.

If it’s gone in the morning, then you know!

@campingshaws have u had trouble w the gnats? I sent one of my dead to LSu and have a vets report that "buffalo gnats" are killing my birds. Ive talked to Lakones she too has had losses as well as another friend in the area and an uncle.

I’ve got a friendly RIR cockerel. He runs up to everyone, even dogs and strangers, for cuddles.

We don’t get them like others do. Not sure why. I don’t specifically do anything to prefect them... maybe our bat population? We have bad mosquitoes periodically. Fowl pox gets pretty bad.

I’ve seen on fb that folks are having trouble.

I have a mystery death in the yard. It’s slimy all over. I caught the calf sucking on chick tails yesterday, so I think she crushed or suffocated it. Usually a snake it’s only slimy on the head.
