MALLARD THREAD...not rouens, Mallards!

Pics
My ducks are starting to fly and work hard to do it, and they have a "mother", I found a female when I was walking wit Pablo, my goose.
This is the new female, It's young, she don't have any orange in the beck, it's dark green and black. She accomodated very well with my babies.

Thanks

Mine are greenish or blueish

Thanks I thought they should be. I got three mallard females and only one of them lays greenish eggs. The others are creamy white. They were from the same hatch from a mallard farm, so I was a little confused. They can fly and don't look like rouens to me, any reason you could think of on why that would happen? :)

Yeah wild mallards who fly in here lay those kind of eggs , I wouldn't be worried .

Im here again, with new pictures

Your ducklettes are very cute....
(yes, I know that the correct word
is duckling.... :) )

How do you tell which is male and
which is female?

I have three - one has the same
markings as yours - one is all black,
or just extremely dark, dark green
and another has a yellow top knot
and yellow underneath the tail...

the first one was hatched in an
incubator... the second two under
one of my broody hens...

I found them on the ground - outside
the nesting box... didn't know if the hen
kicked them out or they fell out?

I'm a complete newbie with ducks... have
always wanted them... my in-laws have
two female and a male Mallard and have
been giving me the eggs to hatch...

Nine more are under three hens and
there are at least three dozen in my
incubator....

I've shot a bazillion photos and a bunch
of video.... here are a few of the images...

if anyone is able to discern gender from
the images, I'd really love to know...thanks
