I'm the oddball, I guess. I love pure white birds. They look classy. However, there's nothing uglier than a white hatchery bird in poor feathering. For better or for worse, I think their type and balance is more apparent. That said, crele and spangled are two of my other favorite patterns...

They ‘can’ fly very well! Mine mostly just fly across the yard once when I let them out in the mornings. But they are very capable of flying long, and high!

Couldn't you clip their wings? I have a few chickens who I've clipped their wings and they've stayed in their pen. Well, I guess they are more suspect able for predators.
