May 2021 Hatch - A - Long

I just set another 124 eggs today. My last hatch sold before I could get them in the brooder!!

I added another three quail eggs.

My ducks eggs have finally been shipped!! I should get them Thursday. Jumbo quail eggs in tomorrow and possibly some button quail this week or next

I have 11 that I’m trying to decide if I should incubate them or give them to my purse dog I haven’t candled the other ones in the incubator yet.

I want to freshen up my covey...

Someone near-ish by has Celadon. I might get some. I admit that I too was tempted to stop keeping quail. Duckling said to keep them, so I will. That is why I have to keep putting eggs in. 2 girls, six boys is an obvious problem.

I set 12 Rouen duck eggs on April 13, they should be hatching around May 11th. So far, so good, they are all developing.

due in May sometime. 1 silkie went broody now the other 2. dont have room to separate, not sure why my brahma in with silkies unless laying egg.
Australorp just started sitting and the other off her nest hoping just eating taking a break.

It is "cute" to see a hen sitting on 40 eggs, but at this point for you WI, I would candle and mark ones that look to be the same age (aircell the same size) keeping the best doz. for her, and incubate the rest.

I was in the garden, a good distance from the coop, and I could smell when the broodies came out. Oh, broody poo stiiiiinks! I think another egg broke yesterday. I don’t see one, and I know the main roo ran in there to get away from me. I was checking him over.

It's day 4, and I can see veins beginning in 4 of the 5 Leghorn eggs, and 2 of the 3 Dorking eggs. One of each appears to be clear, but it is still too early to tell.
