Maybe she is just lazy.

she did not start laying until about 8 months old...then laid maybe 40 eggs after that and not ever again. We rehomed her to a person fully informed. She didn't lay there either.
Also...the lady that we bought her from said all of her hens from that cull group were the same way...terrible layers but beautiful to look at.
This was a couple of years ago though...black ameraucana LF. We did well with Mr Blehms LF White Chanteclers before he got out of those. Very nice birds and great layers. We will be setting a tray of those eggs in our cab for sure

Hearing peeps under broody this afternoon!
She was clucking softly this morning and hadn't eaten, so I had a feeling.

They hatched!!!! All six. Can't beat a hen to incubate eggs

3 hatched Saturday, all males
the 4th and last on Sunday, a girl!

While I was taking this pic, I saw a louse on her head<gasp!>,
so had to dust mama and the nest.

yay for the girl! We dont know what ours are yet. we had a cockerel year last year...hope this year is a pullet one .

Darn cooties anyway . we dusted Miss Jean before we put her in the brooder and also put Ivermectin on her because we have had awful problems with mites and lice

I had a 100% hatch last weekend in the new Incuview, all 26 going to farmette today.
Another load going in this weekend, after I get dividers fashioned.

I have an unexpected 4 eggs set under a surprise broody. Day 4 today. Crazy birds keeping this new chicken keeper on his toes!
