Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Has anyone read or know why eggs hatch breach? Last hatch one of the chicks did and needed help. This hatch I have a goose hatching backwards also. I’m sure it’s going to end up stuck. I’ve never had it happen before this year.

It's official, Widget is broody. She went back to the nest last night, and I took her out. She was on the nest all day today, and I just took her out and put her on the floor a few minutes ago. Now I have actually seen a "chicken pancake." :gig

I'll get out the broody breaker crate tomorrow and get that set up.

I hope they're right about the partial sunshine for the next 3 days. I am so sunlight deprived! I want to curl up in bed and read and sleep. Which I did today. I did make a frittata, so I got something done, but that was about it.

Do you guys know how to keep water clean? No matter how high I place the jug, dust goes right into it in a matter of minutes.
See if you can get them to use nipple waterers. There are two kinds: Vertical and horizontal. The horizontal ones are much better, in my opinion. The vertical one I had dripped and made a messy wet spot.

Folks, the original Michigan thread was closed yesterday due to flaming; many hours were spent cleaning it up, and it was reopened, only to have folks come in and begin flaming, trolling, and questioning moderation. Due to the extent of the clean-up needed, it has been decided by the Staff that the original thread will remain closed, but out on the forum so that folks can access the information it contains.

To those of you who are regular contributors - please take a moment to review the rules you all agreed to upon joining BYC. They are found at the bottom of the site under "TOS" - if anyone should have questions or require clarification, feel free to PM a Staff member at any time.

Please also take a moment before posting your replies to re-read what you've written to be sure it's within the rules. None of us Staff want to be "big brother" and watch threads...we simply don't have the time to do so. Thus, we rely on you to keep the peace, and to report posts before problems ensue. Had reports been made long ago, we may have been able to keep the original thread open.
