Can someone tell me why I’m so itchy?!?!

I haven’t seen any lice or mites on my chickens. But when they flap their wings white flakey stuff comes off and I’m instantly itchy. Sometimes I get a crawly feeling afterwards.

I have sprayed all the birds 2-3 times in a row for 2 weeks and the chicken coop with natural premo remedy(clove and other ingredients) and sprayed my house and my clothes.

I did find 1 red mite on my couch the other day. At least I think that’s what it is. But don’t see any mites or anything on the chickens unless I’m missing something. After I shower the itchy instantly goes away or if I take allergy meds.

So what’s making me so itchy? What’s the white flakes stuff coming off my chickens when they flap the wings? Whatever it is, it’s what’s making me itch. I have bite marks from time to time.

Below here is pic of the red mite? I found on the couch. This is a red mite???this is the single one I see. I don’t see them anywhere else.

Not sure what the bug is but it does not look like a roost mite or NFM, it's too big. Chicken mites are so tiny that they're difficult to photograph.

I agree it sounds like you might be allergic to bird dander. Might want to see your doctor about getting tested to know for certain.

Not a red mite.
You are allergic to chicken dander, chickens make a lot of dander.
Stop spraying stuff in your coop, too much 'natural ' things can be harmful too.
Omg! Is there anything I can do for long term if it’s this? I’m not getting rid of the chickens.

I do take allergy meds but I handle them everyday when I put the rooster inside. Any long term solutions?

Maybe try wearing long sleeves around them if you’re not already?
