Sadly, high productions hybrids are prone to fatal reproductive issues and rarely live longer than 2-3 years.

It is sad losing them.

I know it would be hard, but if you do lose another, consider sending the body to your state lab for necropsy so you get more information. Tragically, reproductive problems are quite common in laying hens. Fatty Liver disease is another common condition that is also sometimes found.

Hopefully you'll be able to pull the others through for a while.

She probably started internal laying and got an infection from the fluid. Those signs you mentioned the difficulty eating and refusing to eat definitely sound like infection to me. If it ever happens again it’s good to put her on antibiotics.
