I just wanted to ask if anyone knows if a mother hen will take care of her baby, even if the baby grows bigger than her?

Whilst it varies, a momma will usually wean her chicks way before such a situation occurs. Mine seem to give it about 6 weeks before leaving their chicks to their own devices.

What I meant is will she peck her like any other chicken?

Regardless of size, the mother hen will hold a higher rank within the flock than her chick (or any younger chicken) - at least until the chick begins laying.

Does this mean that when the chickens begins laying, that the chick can become higher in the rankings?
