Mounting automatic chicken coop door

Outside would make a tiny bit of extra coop space, inside would be more protected from the elements. I think the best is to consider how its design would exclude predators and use that as your guide.
 
Either way would work well as far as protecting against predators. I was thinking along the same line, inside would protect it against the element so it would last longer but it could also have a hard time opening if a chicken was in its way.
 
I guess it really doesn't matter. Ours is mounted inside because that's where the electric plug is. Also, being indoors, the motor and timer are protected from the weather.
 
We used our existing guillotine pop door and mounted a add-a-motor to it, then plugged it into a lamp timer. Total was less than $100. Google add-a-motor chicken door opener.
