Agree, too dark to be blue and not brown enough to be chocolates!

So they will be covered in the barred feathers black and white..... does this stay or get molted out?

Most look like this with their first set of feathers. Most of the body will be barred.


But when they get their adult feathers, about 90% end up mostly solid colored with barring only showing on their belly like this one and the one below

But if you get lucky (this has taken me years to accomplish) you may get some that show barring even after they are fully feathered. This is a trait you need to breed for to get it to not molt out

Well I probably won't get that then lol mine came from a wild duck I don't know.what the parents looked like I was just given the eggs cause the nest was in a bad place
