the mallard was 1 of my 1st ducks then i seen these at fleamarket got the chocolate to see how i liked them and liked the duck just not the color so went back and got more. got rid of all my male ducks of other breeds so i could keep the scovys pure bred and kept the mallard just to see what mallard x scovy will look like and eggs
I would never breed a scovy to a mallard for a few reasons:
1. He could drown her
2. He could injure her while breeding
3. It's usually advised the other way around because a mallard egg is alot smaller than a scovy egg which gives the duckling alot less room to grow in.
i free range and had just her and 2 pekins that were alot bigger then the scovys she hatched 1egg from them but it freaked her out and she ran to pond to get away while baby was only a few minutes old it followed her and drowned but if no injuries from 2pekins in over a yr not expecting much from 1 scovy when he has 3 other girls
