My chicken burped!

I just gave my chickens a bunch of cantaloupe. It was a whole small cantaloupe I had cut in half. After I gave it to my chickens I was cuddling Blossom and she burped! Her breath smelled sweet like cantaloupe I will try to check her crop. What should I feel for? Do you think she has sour crop? Or do you think she just ate too much cantaloupe? I hope she’s okay!

Chickens are gluttons and will gorge goodies because they are walking stomachs. She'll be fine, dont worry about it.

Chickens do swallow air and will burp, especially if the crop gets squeezed in cuddling. Completely normal!

It's a pretty normal thing as long as it's just occasionally. Fruit commonly makes my hens burp after eating a bunch, probably because they eat it as quickly as possible and maybe get some air with it or something. One of my hens even has a weird ritual where she'll gobble a bunch of blueberries, come over for a hug, and then berry burp right in my face like she's trying to tell me tasty it was.
