She most likely is sitting somewhere with her back against the wall, sort of like Wild Bill Hickok liked to sit with his back against the wall when he played poker. This makes it harder for a varmint to slip up behind her. Do you remember what happened to Wild Bill when he didn't sit with his back against the wall? Hens also like nest sites between tree roots, under vehicles, in disused buildings, and beneath brush piles or in brier patches. I have had hens steal nests away in hollow trees, delivery trucks, emptily 55 gallon drums, next to fence posts, in the well house, wood piles, under fallen trees, in a disused corn sheller, the hay loft, under a tractor seat and behind the smoke house.... the places are only limited by the hens' imagination. When she comes off the nest again shadow her from afar and she will lead you to her nest, just play like you aren't watching her. Chances are good that if there are differences in the height of the land that your hen will be sitting in a location that is lower than her run. That allows her to more easily fly back to the nest without leaving a sent trail to her clutch. Good luck and keep us posted. The thing is, these are infertile eggs and I have no I idea where this ninja is hiding.
