The males. At least long enough to judge them.

So are these all pure? Or are any of them possible mixes with you SLW?

This is a mixed hatch intended for sale. The SLWs or the Java could have contributed, one is a known Marans cross (and female because it's sexlinked), and 2 are half California White, but I only know one of them, who inherited the dominant white (I'm sure he's a boy).

The only ones I can be sure are pure Australorps are the splashes.

I'm going to separate some birds for a few days and set a pure Australorp hatch this weekend.

Rameses is still dominant and not letting his sons mate. I'm going to pull out all non Australorps that I can't tell the eggs apart and a couple of the paler blues. Also the 3rd Cockerel.

I'll put the girls back Sunday perhaps minus a couple to sell with the lesser of the black boys.

Decided to hold off setting my next hatch until tomorrow so I could have a slight overload in the NR360 in order to compensate for clears and quitters.

I have 21 eggs with all the browns being definite Australorps.

28 eggs jammed into the NR360 in order to compensate for clears and quitters.

17 pure BBS Australorps, 5 BBS Australorp x French Cuckoo Marans, 3 BBS Australorp X California White, and 3 BBS Australorp x Olive Egger (Nugget is blue and buff, so the chicks should be interesting).

Sadness in the flock.

I lost a pullet to a hawk strike -- Red band from last year's hatch. She had nice color and I hope that I've got her eggs in the incubator.

I will keep the flock closed in for several days or a week.
