My predicament

Yes that makes sense to me. I agree that it might only have to be a temporary thing. I want them to mature more until I make a bigger decision...

This way they still have each others company but the one being aggressive can't be aggressive. and hopefully she will grow out of it.

I have 3 ducklings that are 5 and 6 weeks old. Last weekend my 5 week old Black East Indie started to pick on my 6 week old Crested. He basically scalped my crested pulling most of her crest feathers out. It was completely unexpected to me because they have been raised together. I ended up having to put my crested in her own brooder to prevent further injury. My coop and run for them was almost complete, but now I am making modifications so that they can live together with a barrier to prevent any more picking. The pictures below are what I have done so far, it is not finished so please excuse my mess;-)

This is the run that was supposed to be half chickens, and the other half ducks.


These pics are what I have done so far to make them separate living areas. I have only put up a 40" fence to divide the ducks. If that doesn't work I will add wire all of the way up.

Hey guys, I just wanted to let you all know that I did have to give the aggressive duck up to the bird sanctuary my other duck got very lonely with only me, so I adopted a crested black and white Swedish duckling to keep her company, and they love eachother! I got a duckling thibking that my injured duck would have authority over her so she wouldn't feel like she needed to hurt my injured duckling, and so far so good! (Knock on wood) but I just thought I would let you all know
