I am sooooooo sorry about your tragic loss, @chickenDDD .
It's absolutely terrible.
The very same thing happened unexpectedly to my perfectly healthy Buckeye hen this winter. I had suspected a heart attack or something of the likes, but I'm glad to see this was probably the case of her sudden death.
