My Welsummers

Thank you for this, aart. I got 3 hatchery welsummers last month. Two pullets and a cockerel. I lost one on day one. I believe it was my cockerel, but after seeing your pictures I will confirm that in the next week.

Hmm, after some comparison, I think I am left with two pullets. Both feathered in identically, no comb growth whatsoever, and full salmon colored breast feathers-- no black coming in at all. I am a bit sad that I did not get my rooster… but this is better than ending up with two roosters! I suppose we can look forward to some OE, because the EE cockerel I also got is growing up strong! Thank you again for documenting this. It is hard to find pics of them at that early transitional time when the cockerels start to show their colors.

Was able to get some well lit pics this evening to update this thread.

Wilma at 13 weeks:

Woody at 12 weeks...he's still got a bald spot and a 'cowlick':

Woody had a growth spurt this last week or so, he was markedly smaller than Wilma before but now is a tad bigger...and I think he's trying to crow, haven't seen it but he's the oldest junior roo in the coop and it cracks me up to hear it.

Woody(13wks) and Wilma(14wks) and their flock mates.
Just confirmed that it is Woody in the Jr flock who is learning to crow.
